Next Episode is provided by Alexandru Ionut Brulea, based in Romania. The publisher is the controller for personal information handled by the publisher, such as support correspondence. This policy describes how the app and external services handle information. For privacy questions or requests, contact alexandru.brulea@gmail.com.
Information on your device
Your library, watched status, activity history, preferences, notification settings and cached catalog information are stored in the app's local database. The app does not provide a user account or a publisher-operated cloud synchronization service. The publisher does not receive a copy of your library or watch history. Requests to update saved titles do reveal the titles being requested to the catalog service.
This version contains no advertising, advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs or publisher-operated crash reporting. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone or precise location, sell your personal information or use it for advertising profiles.
Catalog requests and external images
With TMDB configured, searching, browsing popular titles and opening or refreshing title information sends requests directly from your device to TMDB. These requests include search text or title and episode identifiers and may include language and pagination parameters. TMDB and its infrastructure receive your IP address and technical request information needed to deliver the service.
Posters, cast photos and other artwork load from external image servers. YouTube trailer thumbnails load from Google's image servers when displayed, before you choose to open a trailer. These requests also expose your IP address and the requested resource. Internet catalog and image requests use HTTPS. Local storage is protected by your device's application storage controls; the app does not add its own database encryption.
Search queries and requests for title information are sent to the configured catalog provider, TMDB or TVmaze. Images and trailer previews load from external services. These services receive network information such as your IP address. Opening a trailer or viewing link uses the external service and its privacy policy.
Viewing options and external services
Watch availability information is supplied by JustWatch through TMDB. The app retrieves this information from TMDB; it does not send a separate availability query directly to JustWatch. Choosing an external link opens a website or another app. That service then handles information under its own policies, including any account, cookies or payment details you provide there.
Optional episode alerts
If you enable alerts, the app requests notification permission and schedules local reminders with your device's operating system. Episode titles and reminder times are used to display notifications. Notification text may be visible on your lock screen, depending on your device settings. You can turn alerts off in Settings or revoke notification permission in your device settings. No publisher-operated push notification server is used.
Email support
Email Support opens your email app. No message is sent unless you send it. If you contact us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to include. We use this information to respond, investigate the issue and handle privacy requests. Email is processed by the email services involved, including Gmail for the support address. Please do not send passwords, API keys or unnecessary sensitive information.
Why information is used
Information is used to provide the library, catalog and reminder features you request. Where applicable under European data protection law, providing requested services relies on performance of a contract; handling support and protecting the service relies on legitimate interests, subject to your rights; and information required by law is handled to meet legal obligations. Optional notifications depend on your permission, which you can withdraw at any time. Where consent is legally required, it must be obtained before the relevant processing. We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Retention and deletion
Local records remain until removed or the app's stored data is deleted. Removing a title from the library does not erase its watch history, activity records or cached metadata. On Android, use the device's app settings to clear the app's storage. On iOS, delete the app to remove its local app data; offloading the app is not the same as deleting it. Device or cloud backups may retain copies under your backup settings; manage those copies with your device or backup provider. The publisher cannot remotely retrieve or erase your local database.
Support correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to resolve the request, deal with related follow-up and satisfy applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion by email. External providers determine retention of information they receive under their own policies; deleting local app data does not delete their server logs.
TMDB descriptions, artwork references and other catalog metadata expire after six calendar months from retrieval. The app checks retained copies when it runs and before returning cached details. Expired metadata is removed and can be fetched again if available. If an administrative configuration disables TMDB, its metadata is purged when the app receives that configuration. Your library selections, internal progress records and minimal identifier mappings are retained separately. An offline or inactive device cannot receive a remote configuration until it reconnects; device backups are managed separately by the backup provider.
Your privacy rights
Where applicable under the GDPR, you have rights to access and rectify personal data, request erasure or restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and obtain data portability where its conditions are met. You may withdraw consent for consent-based processing without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. Contact alexandru.brulea@gmail.com for requests concerning information handled by the publisher. We may request proportionate verification where necessary. We normally respond within one month; if a lawful extension is needed because of complexity or the number of requests, we will explain it within that month. The publisher cannot retrieve data stored only on your device.
You may lodge a complaint with the Romanian supervisory authority, ANSPDCP, or another competent supervisory authority, including where you habitually reside or work in the EEA. You may also seek a judicial remedy. Requests about data handled independently by external providers can be addressed to those providers; this does not remove any responsibility the publisher has under applicable law.
International services
External catalog, image and email services may process information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Their policies describe their processing locations and applicable transfer protections. This app does not operate its own overseas user database. Contact us if you have questions about a particular service or transfer.
Children and policy updates
Next Episode is a general-audience catalog and organizer, not a service specifically directed at children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to support that should be removed, contact us.
This policy may be updated when the app or its data handling changes. The date above identifies this version. Material changes will be communicated as required, and any necessary consent will be obtained before new processing begins.
